This cross-sectional study was designed to examine the relationship between the stress related to uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in a sample of Chinese residents and their own evaluation of their health. The outcomes measures included uncertainty stress, self-reported health status, negative affect and sleep quality. A sequential mediation model was used to test the relationship between these factors. Greater uncertainty stress was significantly related to lower self-rated health status, with negative affect and subjective sleep quality mediating the model.
