Modern life is associated with high levels of stress for many people.
There is also increasing research evidence to demonstrate pathways by which children may be negatively affected by maternal experiences of stress, both in utero and throughout development. This book presents innovative research being undertaken to mitigate the effects of unavoidable stress, to improve the health of individuals and to reduce the cost of stress to society.

Associations of 24-hour Movement Behaviour with Depressive Symptoms and Anxiety in Children
Children who met all of the 24-hour movement recommendations had significantly lower symptoms of anxiety and depression, while those meeting one or none of the recommendations had higher levels of anxiety and depression
Lifestyle Behaviours and Suicide-Related Outcomes in Adolescents
A large cohort of Chinese 10 – 13 years olds provided data based on the Canadian 24-hour movement behaviour recommendations guidelines for children and youths
Experience of an Exercise Referral Scheme
The aim of this qualitative study is to explore the facilitators and barriers to starting and then maintaining positive health behaviour change through exercise referral. Results to date show that the social aspect of participation is an important theme and usually positive for the participants.
